Summer vacation looks a bit different this year so we're helping you embrace the STAY-cation!

We're all trying to stay closer to home this year and while that might mean your typical summer vacation was canceled, it doesn't mean there's no way to enjoy the summer. So, we've compiled a list of staycation spots within driving distance of Charleston County. Stay safe and enjoy!

1. The Sanctuary on Kiawah

"The Carolina coast offers countless vacation destinations and places to stay. But none equal to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Just 21 miles from Charleston, this South Carolina luxury beach resort hotel delivers Forbes 5-Star service and unequaled accommodations. Meticulous attention to detail, distinguished service and unparalleled luxury paired with a truly sumptuous setting."

2. Palmetto Bluff

"Nestled along the scenic May River in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, Montage Palmetto Bluff is set within a vibrant 20,000-acre community between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Providing guests access to all that Palmetto Bluff has to offer, the resort encompasses an extensive nature preserve, two picturesque villages featuring eight Southern-inspired dining options, a riverfront marina and a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course."

3. The Inn at Middleton Place

"The Inn at Middleton Place resides on 110 vibrant acres of Middleton Place, a National Historic Landmark that includes 65 acres of America's oldest landscaped gardens - floral allées, terraced lawns, a pair of ornamental lakes shaped like butterfly wings - as well as a House Museum, Eliza's House, working Stableyards with artisans and heritage breed animals, a Restaurant, and Organic Farm - all just waiting to be explored."

Luckily there are lots of ways to still enjoy the summer while staying safe.

4. Rent a Beach House on the Isle of Palms or Folly Beach

Let us help you find a rental! Here are a few available right now and reach out if you would like to chat about something more specific.

5. Zero George BnB

"Zero George’s immaculately restored circa 1804 buildings and private courtyard are the ideal ground zero for exploring Charleston’s allure. Meander shady lanes on our complimentary bikes; indulge in our award-winning cuisine; relax with an innovative cocktail. We aim to delight, spoil and surprise you as we serve up Old World authenticity with contemporary upscale hospitality." Plus check out their Culinary Cooking School events!

6. Barrier Island EcoTours

"Barrier Island Eco Tours offers naturalist-guided tours to Capers Island Heritage Preserve. Our trips depart from the Isle of Palms Marina and take you through winding salt marsh, tidal creeks, and the Intracoastal Waterway to Capers Island."

7. Brookgreen Gardens

"Brookgreen Gardens is a unique melding of art, nature, and history. Since its founding in 1931, by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, Brookgreen has been a cultural center for our community. We hope residents and visitors will take pride in the fact that in their midst is one of America’s premier gardens and one of a few select places in the United States to have earned accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as well as being designated a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Everyday, Brookgreen offers a selection of tours, programs, and exhibits for all ages. You may stroll through the gardens on a guided tour or explore these beautiful spaces on your own. Each season, new exhibitions and special events make Brookgreen Gardens...Ever Changing. Simply Amazing."

8. Camp Out at Buck Hall Landing & Hike the Awendaw Passage Trail Along Awendaw Creek

Spend time with the great outdoors! If you are looking for an escape from the normalcy of life maybe a break to reconnect with nature is exactly what you need.
